RuN Thessaloniki II
RUN Thessaloniki II is the continuation of R.u.N Thessaloniki I- Japanese Anime Marathon Day. This event that celebrates Japanese Pop Culture, Art and Tradition took place once again in Thessaloniki, at a location near the White Tower of Thessaloniki on September 20th, 2014. 7000 people came on that day to enjoy the shows and admire the exhibits of Japanese Art of the stands. The event RUN Thessaloniki II was organized under the auspices of Thessaloniki European Youth Capital 2014, an organization that not only supported the event but also turned it into an institution.
The people who attended the event had the opportunity to get free of charge the manga oneshot Thessaloniki Through Time at the Mangatellers’stand. It was not only the numerous copies of the manga oneshot Thessaloniki Through Time that were distributed free of charge by its creators that attracted a great number of people at the Mangatellers’ stand but also the live sketching by the team’s manga artist Manos Lagouvardos that they could enjoy.
The cosplay part of RUN Thessaloniki II was performed by three cosplayers who impersonated Mikasa from Attack on Titan, Saber from Fate/Stay Night and Kakashi from Naruto. The impressive presence of numerous cosplayers brought a breath of freshness to the waterfront of Thessaloniki which led to the creation of Happy Greek Cosplay Video highlighting the Fandom of the youth of Thessaloniki.
RUN Thessaloniki II would have been incomplete without a Parkour Show. Six traceurs dressed as characters of well-known anime series such as Naruto, One Piece, Hunter X Hunter and Bleach unfolded their talents and parkour techniques in a choreography beyond the dreams of any anime fan, an Anime Battle Royale among all those characters.
Japanese Martial Arts
Japanese Martial Arts being an integral part of Japanese Culture and Civilization could not have been omitted of RUN Thessaloniki II. At the event of September 20th, 2014 there was a live show of Japanese Martial Arts such as Judo, Aikido, kendo and laido. The people who watched the show had the chance to perform techniques of martial arts under the instructions of the teachers on the main stage.
Origami & Bonsai
The different forms of Japanese Art were represented at RUN Thessaloniki II stands. The people who attended the event were offered the opportunity through workshops and displays to admire the arts of origami and bonsai.
The exotic taste of the traditional dishes of the Japanese cuisine offered a unique feature to the event of RUN Thessaloniki II. The people who visited the different stands had the opportunity to taste Dango doughnuts or sushi while they were enjoying live cooking performances.
